A Busy Saturday!

Dead Weight: TYPE Gallery opened last night in the basement of TYPE books and showcased the cored book art of Martha Baillie, the strange words of Craig Lenard and the never-dead book of Mark Laliberte. This was followed by Signal-to-Noise: The Poetry of Information - Type Poetry Salon,, a half hour performance by various Screamers (lead by Bill Kennedy and Chris Puima) reading some of their favorite catalogs; works included The Odyssey, the Yellow pages, The Inkblot Record, p. cob's graffiti work and many more. A wonderful evening to be sure! The good news is that the gallery will be up all week long. More, you can come inspect the art AND participate in our ongoing TYPE salon series as Maggie Helwig leads Book in the Head on Monday, July 6th.

But today! A busy Saturday as we've got 3 excellent events lined up. At 1 o'clock Carey Toane will be leading Chapters 11: The Bankruptcy Walking Tour. This year's walking tour is dedicated to independent bookstores who have passed away. Eulogies and flowers will be presented to the dearly departed. The tour begins at the Victory Cafe at 1 PM.

At 7, Julie Wilson moderates Stet: Redacting the Redacted as Alana Wilcox (Senior Editor of Coach House Books), Stuart Ross (Poetry Editor of Mansfield Press), Bev Daurio (Editor-in-chief of The Mercury Press) all edit a mystery poet and fiction writer's work. Billed in EYE as No Holds Barred, the Scream is happy to announce fish-hooking and eye gouging have now been added to the short list of disqualifying actions. The fun begins at 7 at Mercer Union.

To top the night off, the Trash Palace is showing François Truffaut's Fahrenheit 451. There will be short readings beforehand as well as beer and popcorn and plenty of sassy commentary. The show begins at 10 PM and admission is $5.

Lastly, the deadline for Dennis Lee booklength tickets is fast approaching - get those tickets now!
